HIGHLY RECOMMENDED W/ LORETTA'S MUSEUM

* Providing the A's to the 5 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED Q's today is Loretta’s Museum — a creative musical outlet of Loretta Blue, whose lovely collection of 2014-2021 streams was recently put out by the always amazing Furious Hooves (and you can catch a track from that release on the HI54 mix cd ‘MORNING VIBES’)

#1 - WHAT IS THE ONE ALBUM (OR EP OR SONG) THAT YOU THINK SHOULD BE THE VERY NEXT MUSICAL THING THAT EVERYONE PRESSES PLAY ON THE NEXT TIME THEY FIND THEMSELVES THINKING “WHAT SHOULD I LISTEN TO NOW”?

If you're in the mood for a good cry, the record "Tomb" by Angelo De Augustine.

I listen to this record at least once a week, it's an absolute gem. It's one of those albums where I just feel so grateful it was crafted and I appreciate it endlessly. I cry everytime, without fail.

#2 - WHAT IS THE ONE MOVIE OR TV SHOW THAT YOU THINK SHOULD BE NEXT IN EVERYBODY’S NETFLIX QUEUE (OK, DOESN’T HAVE TO BE NETFLIX, WE’RE ALL INTERNET ADULTS HERE AND KNOW HOW TO FIND ANYTHING ONLINE, ONE WAY OR ANOTHER)?

So... I don't have Netflix or anything. I haven't watched actual T.V. in a super long time. Oh wait! The other day at a friend's house I watched this show called "Alone". What a fun little reality show.

But anyways back on topic… the last movie I watched was Ugetsu, a Japanese film from 1953. I saw it in the theater which is how I prefer to watch movies. I really love films but I usually only watch a film about once every two months. I like the slow arty stuff.

#3. I (AND BY “I” I MEAN “THE PERSON THAT IS READING THIS”) AM GOING TO THE LOCAL BOOK STORE (OK, MAYBE THE LOCAL LIBRARY FIRST) TO FIND THE VERY NEXT BOOK THAT I WILL BE PUTTING SOME EXTREMELY VALUABLE ‘ME-TIME' ASIDE FOR. WHICH BOOK WOULD YOU GET, IF YOU WERE ME (AND, I SUPPOSE, YOU HADN’T ALREADY READ WHAT YOU’RE ABOUT TO SUGGEST)?

If you're looking for a great laugh and want to smile "Homesick for another world" by Otessa Moshfegh — she also wrote this book called "Eileen" which is a freaking page turner! So well written. Love Otessa.

I just cracked open a Raymond Carver story book called "Cathedral". Choosing a book at the store is always a little tricky but don't forget to ask the people working! I love just asking book store workers what they're reading and what their favorites are. I was reading a poetry book by Ursula K Le Guin recently and thought it was pure magic. You have to read her poetry!

#4 - WHAT IS THE ONE WEBSITE (OR JUST ANY OLD INTERNET THING: APP, GIF, SERVICE, WHATEVER) THAT YOU WOULD GET REALLY DOWN IN THE DUMPS ABOUT IF IT WERE TO SUDDENLY GO AWAY?

I really enjoy Email. It's so much faster than snail-mail, not as intimate, sure... but in its own light it possesses a special quality and I really do love connecting with my friends from afar.

If I were to make a bumper sticker it would say "the internet is boring" which it is! OmG! Does anyone else feel that way? I used to love it in the early 00's cause I followed some really great art blogs but they have all but disappeared! Every once and awhile I'll make an Instagram account and it usually lasts about 3 months... I just can't take it.

#5 - AND FINALLY… PLEASE GIVE ONE COMPLETELY UNAIDED RECOMMENDATION THAT YOU THINK EVERYONE SHOULD START DOING / USING / WATCHING / EATING / THINKING / QUITTING / ETC-ING TO MAKE THEIR LIVES A LITTLE BIT MORE BETTER AND/OR BEARABLE.

We should all be writing and reading poetry, daily. You should also be affectionate with your friend's and tell them what you appreciate about them. I also like talking to strangers and feel like it's so important to just strike up conversations with people from different backgrounds. Taking mushrooms is good too, I am an avid proponent of diving into psychedelics.

Something I've been trying lately is being honest with how I'm actually feeling, I think this is important for those around you — but it's incredibly challenging. I have deep "bury it" tendencies, which you know... one way or another it'll surface in some not so healthy ways.

OK folks, there you have it. Things that Loretta Blue of Loretta’s Museum thinks you should consider incorporating into your day/life. Before you log off and go be honest with a stranger, make sure to give ‘Refracted Light’ a listen below…

…and if you like what you’re hearing, go do some further loretta-museum-flavoured audio exploring over on their Furious Hooves artist page or pop over to their Bandcamp / Spotify.
